423 blue recap: made malevich, printed type, parked backwards

I’m supposed to talk about Malevich, and these pictures of me and my husband playing with green screens, and the interestingly cool things that happened at this year’s Flomm 423 Blue Day.

And while all things were truly fun, I couldn’t help but relate our perfect frickin’ parking job to the perfect angle of a rectangle block. To how Malevich orchestrated basic shapes onto a canvas.

You see, everyone on the right hand side of the street was parked at an angle, their headlights facing the street. It was odd, and I felt old for not understanding how so many people had successfully pulled off a backwards angle amidst the midtown traffic. But more than one brave soldier had completed the task, so we couldn’t not.

Three minutes.

It took three forsaken minutes to get the angle just right, and fit between the lines to where all individuals in the car were satisfied with the parking arrangement; all being a husband and wife whose entire bane of their union was parking on busy streets. It was a triumphant task to park at an angle, backwards.

And we accomplished said task.

Did you know that the County of Sacramento ALONE had 1,317,994 cars registered in 2018? And the greater Sacramento area had 2.4 million people as of the 2010 census. That’s just under half the people in the Sacramento Area owning a car.

Also – google thinks I want to know about Amanda Blake (Miss Kitty from Gunsmoke), because if you are asking about Sacramento, you clearly have a penchant for old timey western soap operas.

And then I wondered – what would happen if you could pull a John Malkevich, with Kazimir Malevich?

And this is a how click-hole happens, folks.
