So I Googled this and welp, it’s even more stu­pid.

This gi­ant struc­ture was orig­i­nal­ly be­ing built as a post-sur­gi­cal re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion cen­ter but a month be­fore it was com­plet­ed, the city of Man­v­el an­nexed the area and zoned the prop­er­ty as res­i­den­tial.

So then it’s con­sid­ered a fuck­ing house and the city would not let it be any­thing else.

This is me tak­ing this op­por­tu­ni­ty to point out that so much of this kind of stu­pid shit hap­pens at the city lev­el, where our votes ac­tu­al­ly make a mas­sive dif­fer­ence be­cause there’s not an elec­toral col­lege en­sur­ing rur­al votes count four times more than city votes and we can get non-par­ti­san lead­er­ship that isn’t suck­ling the cor­po­rate teat that can and could zone this prop­er­ty dif­fer­ent­ly,

de­vel­op a com­mu­ni­ty part­ner­ship to in­vest and run the or­ga­ni­za­tion, and the build­ing could be­come a shel­ter

in­stead of a stu­pid, emp­ty Mc­Man­sion no one wants to live in.

Soooooooo don’t just en­gage dur­ing the general/Presidential elec­tions, vote in lo­cal elec­tions too!

You can make a huge im­pact at the lo­cal lev­el 🙂.
