There’s this weird in­se­cu­ri­ty thing com­ic-lov­ing man­chil­dren do where it’s not enough to be catered to by near­ly the en­tire­ty of our cul­tur­al pipeline, they have to be re­as­sured that theirs is an en­ter­tain­ment for learned adults, cuz some­times the punch­ing stops long enough for talk­ing.

Are some com­ic flicks le­git? Sure.

And lots of com­ic tv con­tent (Watch­men, The Boys) is tran­scen­dent.

But that’s not what Zack makes and that’s cer­tain­ly not what his fan­boys are about.
