So as I get ready to leave my house I have to prepare myself to listen to everybody complaining about last year, and saying the same old tired phrase
“I hope this year’s better.”
Life isn’t about calendars, it isn’t about days, weeks, months, years.
Life is about evolution, and we are tiny little specs in that evolutionary unending journey.
This planet is not about us, it never was about us and never will be about us.
Quite frankly it doesn’t give a shit about us.
So who does give a shit about us?
If we’re lucky, maybe a couple of dozen people.
Those who would step in front of a bus or run into that burning building.
Everyday when I read an excerpt from The Daily Stoic I’m aware of just how much humans have stayed the same over thousands of years.
The same complaints, the same trials and tribulations, the same joys.
Humans have been evolving for over 50,000 years and we are still evolving.
Change isn’t going to happen because of the flip of a calendar page, it happens through constant trial and error.
It happens when evolution says,
“Well that didn’t work, let’s try something new.”
Evolution isn’t necessarily biological, geographical, or chronological, it can be intellectual and emotional too.
It’s all up to a species on how it adapts to that change whether it survives or not.
So in other words,
“Shut up and embrace the moment you’re living in.”
