Watched X‑Men: Dark Phoenix (2019).
Not bad, but it’s not dark at all despite the title. The supposed centre of Phoenix’s internal conflict is muddled, and the main bad guys are as boring as they can get.
It feels like I have watched just another TV drama episode of X‑Men, not the grand finale of the franchise.
The acting is fine overall with two exceptions: Sophie Turner is great and Jennifer Lawrence could not care less. It’s definitely not the worst X‑Men, but it is certainly below average. 5⁄10
And Men In Black: International (2019).
The main actors are great, but they were not able to overcome the terribly auto pilot script and direction, and severe lack of jokes.
MIB is such a cool foundation of different stories and all they did was to make something that is nothing more than an unfunny soft remake of the first film, much like the Ghostbusters (2016) reboot which was also done by Sony Pictures who are desperate to have their own lucrative cinematic universe.
Also MIB as an organisation is an immigration bureau and the film doesn’t seem to have any commentary on our current immigration/refugee issues. 5⁄10
