I have spent most of my day either
talking about super complicated issues
or listening to people
talk about super complicated issues
and it has been exhausting.
I am not this worn out after working in the yard for six hours.
I am not this worn out after three 45-minute sessions on my exercise bike.
I am not even this worn out after walking around at Disneyland for almost twelve hours at peak crowds.
Looking back on all the messages about Careers And The Workplace I received when I was growing up,
it’s very clear that we were all expected to be – or at least function like – Type A Extroverts.
“You’d
get
the answers
to all
of the
questions
you’re asking
if
you’d stop
interrupting me
and
just
listen
to
the
entire
presentation first.”
They have to be made to do that.
