And I se­ri­ous­ly mean  DONE .
The idea that I am some­how a hyp­ocrite or “just as bad” for not show­ing tol­er­ance to the in­tol­er­ant and hate­ful mem­bers of our so­ci­ety.

Look, I get there’s a il­lu­so­ry para­dox with­in that log­ic be­cause those who are in­tol­er­ant are sim­i­lar­ly self-right­eous. How­ev­er, this is not about some ideas race to the moral high ground, these is­sues are not, have nev­er been, and will nev­er be sub­jec­tive.

NO ONE is in­fe­ri­or be­cause of their race, gen­der, sex­u­al ori­en­ta­tion, dis­abil­i­ty, so­cial class, etc etc etc. – that is ob­jec­tive, sci­en­tif­i­cal­ly-sup­port­ed truth. Any­thing to the con­trary is fear-fu­eled bull­shit ar­bi­trar­i­ly cre­at­ed to sup­port pow­er hi­er­ar­chies.

Fur­ther­more, the free­doms we en­joy are not a byprod­uct of some col­lec­tive en­light­en­ment. Every sin­gle one is hard earned and blood stained. This hip­py non­sense that we can just hug it out with those who work to dis­man­tle hu­man progress is noth­ing more than priv­i­lege, blind­ness at best, and buy­ing into the de­lib­er­ate pro­pa­gan­da that seeks to dis­man­tle so­cial move­ments, at worst. Take away the rose-col­ored re­vi­sion­ist his­to­ry that teach­es us pas­sive ac­tion is the only mech­a­nism to free­dom and equal­i­ty and you see that the great­est hu­man rights vic­to­ries were far from peace­ful.

Most im­por­tant­ly, I do not owe any grown ass adult pa­tience for opin­ions, ideas, and ac­tions that vic­tim­ize in­no­cent peo­ple. If the Col­orado PP shoot­ing showed us any­thing it’s that even with in­dis­putable cau­sa­tion, peo­ple will choose self-preser­va­tion, will­ful ig­no­rance, and ha­tred over per­son­al re­spon­si­bil­i­ty and we don’t have time for that shit.

There are very real, very trag­ic con­se­quences to hate speech and big­otry, and putting the onus on the pro­po­nent to mag­i­cal­ly see the er­ror of their ways is ab­surd­ly in­ef­fec­tive. We as a so­ci­ety need to say “NO MORE” and shut those fuck­ers down be­cause at the end of the day re­spect­ing their bullshit/feelings/beliefs is not more im­por­tant than pro­tect­ing the in­no­cent by sub­vert­ing the intolerant’s predilec­tion to­ward vi­o­lence.

So nope, not a hyp­ocrite, not “just as bad,” just un­will­ing to have my com­pas­sion ex­ploit­ed by those who do not de­serve it and I am not go­ing to feel bad about that. No one should ever turn the oth­er cheek and get beat.
