today’s olympics

I was nev­er go­ing to be su­per into the Olympics (you know, sports) –

But every time we do this I spend the months lead­ing up to them read­ing about poor peo­ple be­ing eject­ed from their homes –

The 16 days dur­ing about ram­pant sex traf­fick­ing and vi­o­lence –

And the months af­ter about the re­main­ing eco­log­i­cal and so­cial dam­age –

Which takes away what­ev­er small pos­si­bil­i­ty I could have had of en­joy­ing them.

Plus,
this year with the misog­y­nist cher­ry on top, I’m su­per not en­thused.
 

I love the idea
of the whole world com­ing to­geth­er and par­tic­i­pat­ing in some­thing –

But we’re just too shit­ty to even do any­thing nice with­out it be­ing the worst.

It is every­thing bad about the world.

Also,
the first world will win the lion’s share of the medals –

Be­cause the rest of the world is too busy run­ning away from bombs to get su­per good at run­ning on tracks –

Cor­po­ra­tions will prof­it at the ex­pense of the poor –

And Rus­sia will cheat.
 

Can’t we just come to­geth­er and erad­i­cate malar­ia in­stead?
