obama’s involvement does not lessen the severity of what trump is doing

Re­cent­ly,
I’ve been see­ing peo­ple in threads talk­ing about the Oba­ma ad­min­is­tra­tion

“putting kids in cages too,”

as a way to com­pare how his poli­cies at the the bor­der mir­ror those of Trump.

In­deed, there were cages BUT they were there for pro­tec­tion of moth­ers and their chil­dren from sin­gle men.

What Oba­ma DIDN’T do was sep­a­rate fam­i­lies from their chil­dren.

This is strange and un­usu­al­ly cru­el be­hav­ior – in fact, if we saw this hap­pen­ing in ar­eas out­side of the U.S. we would move to stop it from oc­cur­ring.

It is im­por­tant – now more than ever – to know the fac­tu­al de­tails of these types of sto­ries as they are more nu­anced and in­tri­cate than they may ap­pear to be but they are DIF­FER­ENT, nonethe­less.
