Around 38 minutes in — our interview:
This year, the Sac Poetry Awards gala is sold out but there are still ways for everyone to celebrate.
Educators around Sacramento are teaching the curriculum with their classes and we’ve got two cash prize contests, one for youth and one for adults to enter and win some $$$.
I absolutely LOVE that I get to teach my friends’ work in my workshops. This curriculum is so relevant and representative. We did a great job on this if I do say so myself. And I do. Covers so much including mental health, systemic racism, joy, self-love, community, and all the literary devices.
Download it for your class today at SacramentoPoetryDay.com (You can teach it all year around) (Did I mention it meets core educational standards for every grade K‑12?)
For those of you who got their tickets to the gala we’ll see you Thursday night.
