It’s been a wild one, man.

Of all the events that I’ve ever come up with Drunk Po­et­ry is my fa­vorite.

But it turned into some­thing I nev­er planned it to be. This weird lit­tle space where the city’s front­line ac­tivists come to kick a cou­ple back and laugh, where po­ets who fight the world’s dark­ness on a dai­ly are able to light­en up and laugh with them­selves.

Where old white women from Ro­seville have their first con­ver­sa­tion ever with a black trans homie about which dirty rap song to per­form.

We talk a lot about tribe in the back­yard. Thurs­day night I felt all of y’all. Keep do­ing your work. We’ll keep do­ing ours to cre­ate spaces to come to­geth­er, dance, laugh, and love.

I’m proud of us.

(Also I’m glad some of y’all got to see me throw a shoe at some­one on stage so you re­al­ize it’s not an idle threat when I say it.)

And we got a Hal­loween tra­di­tion around here.

Come cel­e­brate our fa­vorite hol­i­day with the tribe at Harlow’s. Oc­to­ber 31.
