I’m big on changing things up.
And in addition from moving with my wife to nü digs this month – and going totally BAUHAUS MOD with a better studio for RADíO FLoMM and other FLOMMMABLE visuallystickythings – we’ve been looking at A LOT OF NÜ ART LATELY realizing WE STILL DON’T HAVE ENOUGH WALLS FOR EVERYTHING.
We have a lot of nooks tho. And a long hallway.
SO if changing things up where you live (and prolly still work) is also in order, Julian Peña Gallery has PUSHINGPINK opening this week.
“In every industry, products and services marketed specifically to women are more likely to cost more than those marketed to men. This gender-based price discrimination is often referred to as the ‘Pink Tax.’ Regardless of a person’s gender identification, a consumer who wishes to purchase products marketed to women will encounter this ‘tax.’ For womxn, especially womxn of color, this is particularly harmful due systemic racism in addition to the gender-based wage gap.
“For people who menstruate, there is the additional tampon tax – a sales tax that is on menstrual hygiene products. These products are a basic necessity for about half of the population, and the tax disproportionately affects only menstruating people, making it a form of sex-based discrimination. As of April 2020, Washington State joined 19 other states making these products tax exempt. PUSHINGPINK attempts to reflect the financial and psychological taxes experienced by those affected by the pink and/or tampon tax, as well as to challenge society’s normalized concepts of gender.”
