It’s fine to recognize Kate Spade as an artist and designer and love her products,
but it doesn’t matter what she did or didn’t do for a living or for society or how recognizable she or her products were.
It doesn’t make her depression and suicide any more or less tragic than anyone else’s.
She was a person, and that’s all she needed to be for this to matter.
As long as we continue to only highlight and discuss depression and suicide when famous people suffer and die, everyone will continue to suffer and die from depression and suicide.
It’s like when Neal Brennan said (to paraphrase)
imagine having a cold and someone telling you,
“Yeah you don’t really have that.”
