no, i don’t take responsibility at all’

Love the way the president seems completely uninterested in giving this speech, just absolutely bored shitless, paying no attention even to his own words, needing to look at his script 11 seconds into the speech because he forgot it’s called ‘corona virus,’ this is all fine, I feel great confidence, the sheer boredom in his voice did it.”
Gin and Tacos, 13 March 2020

I wish things were different. I wish we had a Democratic government right now. I wish I didn’t have to fear for family and friends and neighbors, a new fear coming every season without the old one leaving. There’s a stack of fears and threats and worries we each haul behind us now.

But I don’t yearn to be back at college. I don’t yearn to be a kid again. I don’t yearn to be oblivious to this. If this is the path things take, then I don’t wish to be cocooned at a time when privilege and youth kept me ignorant to what it was like to haul this shit around all the time.

We’re at a point where we can save lives, even with something so simple as 10 minutes a day of phone calls to our governor, representatives, senators. We’re at a point when we can change things. We’re at a point where we have no choice but to look at the shit everyone else hauls around and say enough. I don’t want to go back to a time when I couldn’t see that.

The only question now is whether we do these things or not, whether we take charge of the moment or allow the people heaping fears on us to mismanage yet another that they made so much worse. Say enough, calmly with control or screaming it so the neighbors can hear, or through grit teeth or tears, but make this government hear you say it.

We need extensive and free COVID-19 testing, we need consistent hospital protocols, we need unemployment and sick coverage for workers (blocked by Sen. McConnell), we need Medicare and Medicaid coverage to be applied across the board (blocked by the White House), we need drive-through testing, we need coverage of all treatment (no government plans yet; opposed by White House), we need it to be applied equally to all communities, and we need to maintain voting rights through it all.

The countries this has hit hardest all have universal or essentially universal healthcare. We do not. We don’t know how this impacts a country without full coverage. Some states have hundreds of people now who have been denied testing, and the proper healthcare that testing determines. If they won’t fix this, we must. You have a phone, they have offices that need to hear you. It’s not that hard, we just have to do it.”

Support for Trump at this moment is
*one in the same*
with supporting letting this virus run rampant because

THAT’S WHAT TRUMP DID.

MAGA idiots caused this.

No, they didn’t create the virus but the lack of response from Trump (all to keep his re-election numbers high) over a month ago is why the world is totally upside down right now.

There is no debate. There is no discussion.

There is no “Bu‑, bu‑, Obama!”

This is what is.

I mean,
Trump REFUSED Test Kits from the World Health Organization (WHO).

I hope anyone still supporting this garbage idiot has their life, health and business ruined by this outbreak.

We’re all suffering in some way or other because Fox News-addicted trash fucked us all.

No, I don’t take responsibility at all.”
Donald Trump, 13 March 2020

This needs to be EVERYWHERE during this election. Make it trend.
