“As a white-collar millennial, I’m supposed to be cheering on the remote work revolution. But I’ve realized that I can’t be my best, most human self in sweatpants, pretending to pay attention on video conferences between trips to the fridge.”
—Kevin Roose, NYT
“Office banter, bad jokes, and even unctuous corporate talk in the hallways can be dismissed as empty blather. But Duane calls these things ‘the carrier wave for psychological safety.’ Almost everything that doesn’t feel like work at the office is what makes the most creative, most productive work at the office possible.”
—Derek Thompson, The Atlantic
“Just had a 1.5 hr convo with my best friend about what a scam it was to indoctrinate millennials into finding meaning and purpose from our jobs while surviving in a capitalist society with two economic recessions.”
—Bo Ren
So I’m glad to know it’s not really on anybody’s agenda to let the American people stay home.
Paying people to stay home is not as good for capitalism as sending them to slaughter. Watever helps increase an imaginary number for a small handful of psychopaths, right?
It’s not worth examining, I’m sure.
But don’t we need someone in government to actually give a shit about wat happens to us – not just set some rules and call it good?
Clearly, wat we do need going forward is to crowd into MOR places but with masks on.
And to be clear,
I’m 100% on Team Wear Your Damn Mask, and I don’t personally know anyone who doesn’t,
but
several
of
them
still
got
sick.
Also
I feel like the film industry is really missing out on an opportunity by not making a movie with a masked cast.
It could be so easily dubbed into any language.
