endless tortures we inflict

Now it is my turn to be the in­tol­er­a­ble scold:

In No­vem­ber, those of us who showed sol­i­dar­i­ty with Paris took a lot of heat – at the very least we were called im­pe­ri­al­ist rubes and the worst, racists.

This week there were dead­ly ter­ror­ist at­tacks in Cameroon, Pak­istan, and In­done­sia.

I have only seen ONE per­son post about any of these and when I post­ed in my so­cial me­dia cir­cles, I got very lit­tle re­sponse be­cause the “what about the Hezbol­lah tar­get in Beirut and Kenya 6 months lat­er” dis­play of in­clu­siv­i­ty en­light­en­ment was ex­act­ly what I called it at the time: A bunch of self-con­grat­u­la­to­ry wank.

The ex­haus­tive so­cial me­dia dog and pony show of goose-step­ping to the arm­chair pro­gres­sive think-piece was ex­act­ly what those of you ac­cused oth­ers of do­ing – be­ing ma­nip­u­lat­ed by the dom­i­nant nar­ra­tive.

Frankly, it was bull­shit and for all the “high-mind­ed” hul­la­baloo about be­ing ful­ly en­gaged in world af­fairs, I have seen noth­ing change (*shock­er*).

So ei­ther ac­cept you don’t re­al­ly care (which is more than okay) and your unique but­ter­fly self just want­ed to be the smarter con­trar­i­an *OR* get tru­ly en­gaged and if you do, be pre­pared to lose your re­li­gion (both mean­ings) and fuck­ing drink heav­i­ly be­cause the world is made of beasts there is no oth­er way to cull the crip­pling knowl­edge of the end­less tor­tures we in­flict upon each oth­er dai­ly.

Ei­ther way, stay the hell off our dicks next round.
