“Let’s start with what we know. Someone with Trump’s psychological makeup, when faced with facts and events that are unpleasant, that he perceives as a threat to his self-image and public standing, simply denies them. We saw that repeatedly during the early part of the pandemic, when the president was giving false reassurance and spreading false information one day after another.”
—Peter Wehner, The Atlantic
“You want ventilators and masks from the Federal Government’s reserves to treat your citizens?
“Well, Governors have to treat me well, it’s a two-way street.”
—President Trump, 24 March 2020
Narcissistic psychopath.
And so much of the insomnia driven by this pandemic is not wanting to leave a wheel you aren’t steering in the first place.
A lot of Republicans that screeched about Obamacare death panels in 2008 are now breaking out the actuarial tables to determine the number of dead Americans that is acceptable if it means that Chili’s can reopen.

And you can still be ‘conservative’ but if the GOP is no longer actually conservative then you’re just being Republican, which is just a team name that can mean anything the cult wants it to at any time.
Here’s something you can use if you run into a “Not all Republicans” Republican:
To pretend that Republicans aren’t monolithic becomes flimsier *every single time* they get the White House (ya know without a popular vote mandate or anything silly like that) and then have to defend indefensible nonsense from awful leaders. Then they pull that “um er I’m uh independent” horseshit while still voting straight R down the line.
Every republican is responsible for this garbage fire of an administration and their silence at its worst aspects (of which there are so so many) is the same as endorsement.
So that “no true Scotsman” shit doesn’t play.
*Tailor it how you wish. No attribution necessary*
When the President looks the nation in the eye and says some lives lost are acceptable to save the stock market, he means you.
Not some abstract percentage.
You.
He means your mom, your grandad, your kid.
He means you personally should die if it makes him lose less money.

What’s the fucking point of allowing billionaires to accrue all this money if we have to pay them every time their companies lose value?
That’s what the BILLIONS we let you keep are for, dipshits.

We’re seeing a day/night difference in Washington right now.
We have one imperfect party fighting for us and one cadre of greed-based monsters happy to ruin us all for their donors and their portfolios.
Omg, the GOP gov of Mississippi issued an executive order to override all the local government stay at home orders

You Republicans never get to call yourselves “pro life.”
Ever.
Again.
Again. REPUBLICANS ARE NOT ON YOUR SIDE.
They have never been on your side.
They will never be on your side.
He sacrificed the Puerto Ricans, you didn’t resist.
He sacrificed the children, you didn’t resist.
He sacrificed the Kurds, you didn’t resist.
Now, he is sacrificing you.
The best time to start resisting was 3 years ago. The second best time is NOW.

“I never thought Pornhub would take the collective health and well being of the country more seriously than the President but here we are.”
—Johnny Taylor
Facebook. Where you find out that that guy that did that one song you liked when you were 19 is a fascist moron (this has happened like 4 times now).
One funny trope about Facebook (and it’s *very* Facebook):
The attractive woman who is compelled to speak about politics now and her comments immediately become a minefield of all the thirsty middle aged dudes that friended her back when things were less crazy and they get real condescending about politics in her comments now that they’re confronted with the harsh reality that the pretty lady has opinions and can talk and stuff.
Ronnie Barnett come get ya boy he drunk!
Like, If we make it through this we deserve reunions.
R.E.M., Oasis, Talking Heads, even made-up bands like Josie and the Pussycats.
Hahahahahahahah holyyyyy shit.
What a headline.
What even Omaha World-Herald?
OK maybe I’m high (I am actually very high) but this headline is kinda bananas no?
Told you. Right wingers get in line and parrot.
“The stories coming from New York hospitals are horrific. The doctors and nurses are already exhausted physically and mentally and this is only the beginning. They are getting sick. I am between furious and heart-broken. Many of these deaths are on Trump’s hands.”
—Melissa Martin
Memo from a large midwestern hospital going around.
This is also the case in Washington and is becoming the case in New York and soon your town:
It’s not Obama’s fault.
It’s not Congress.
It’s not liberals or the media.
This is square on the Trump administrations non-reaction to this crisis at every turn. And if you bring up “bu- bu- he closed China!” as if that’s the only thing that matters I hope you catch this shit next.
We are now rationing emergency care. Under the most straight no chaser capitalist government we’ve had in decades. This is what republicans have given us and it’s by design. If you survive til November you have a *duty* to vote them all out. No third parties. No write ins. No preening peacocking about your conscience. No voting for whatever 1% polling republican makes you feel like it’s not your problem.
Vote. Them all. Out. Every republican.
They did this to us.
Sobering, striking and very smart editorial design.
