I am invit­ing you

clos­er into my life than I ever have with any oth­er piece of art or writ­ing.

I didn’t know,
at age 34 amidst a ma­jor life tran­si­tion,
that my jour­nals would be­come what they be­came – a book about a 7‑year heal­ing jour­ney as I re­de­fined a new sense of self.

The whole of it is about claim­ing one’s self. And this was the fi­nal step.

 

My new book – the first in my adult col­lec­tion – is called BOSS IN­SIDE: A RECLA­MA­TION OF THE FEM­I­NINE,

a 180-page il­lus­trat­ed mem­oir.
 

 

I su­per bombed my life
and cre­at­ed a body of work in the void.
 

What came out were girl gods,
wild women, wise women

and
un­der­stand­ing …

 

That in all di­men­sions –

per­son­al,
fa­mil­ial,
so­cial,
po­lit­i­cal,
en­vi­ron­men­tal, and
cos­mic,

ash­es are al­ways the in­gre­di­ents for new forms.

 

The book is an un­earthing —

a re­cov­ery
of the fem­i­nine force I used to re­claim my in­tu­ition, my in­stincts, my rage,
and my grief,

as means to heal.
