perpetually shocked, disappointed, and completely frozen

Historians call it ‘willful ignorance’ when Germans said ‘we didn’t know’ as their neighbors disappeared.

But Americans do know.
About the raids.
The camps.
The mass deportations.

Silence now isn’t ignorance.
It’s complicity.”

Jason Dogwood

Seeing a lot of Surprised Pikachu faces out there on social media tonight in response to Republicans Republicaning, and I’m here to tell you:

I know its hard, I know you hate it, I know it feels bad, and I know it runs counterintuitive to everything you desperately want to believe.

But, some people in this world just aren’t good. And they never will be.

Period. Full stop. End of story.

Shhhhh, I know, I know. You really don’t want that to be true.

And you know what? Neither do I. But it doesn’t matter what we want, because it is true, and it always has been.

A lot of mealy mouthed, wimpy, performative, noncommittal libs and all their right leaning centrist brethren love to point to the problem as, “We don’t talk to each other anymore!” and, “Nobody is willing to consider the other side!”

But hey, listen: Some shit, actually a whole LOT of shit, does not deserve any consideration, at all, whatsoever, but rather it belongs in the dustbin of history.

America is about to find out the very hard way that this is the wrong path, despite plenty of historical examples that it could have learned from and chosen differently based on the end results of those examples.

But we didn’t and here we are. It sucks.

And it’s going to suck for a very long time.

And I take absolutely zero joy or satisfaction in saying this, but I promise you: The sooner you accept the fact that some people, maybe even a lot of people, simply just aren’t good, the easier it’s going to be for you to deal with what is coming.
