STEVE MEHAL­LO
I sort of had the idea for this year’s event back in De­cem­ber when I spent about a month re­cov­er­ing from back surgery. AND since some of the FLOM­MISTS have been shout­ing “ZINE!” at me for a cou­ple years now, okay, I HEAR YOU.

So we’re go­ing to do the first ever flomZINEm! And so I’m go­ing to take con­tent that comes in – sub­mit­ted thru the ex­per­i­men­tal site – and start pro­duc­ing a large for­mat ZINE – with the plans to fin­ish by end of the day on 423.

THEN YOU CAN down­load, mis­stakds and all!

As a bonus, I’ve worked pro­fes­sion­al­ly in mag­a­zine and news­pa­per de­sign and pro­duc­tion. AND I’ve ac­tu­al­ly taught pub­li­ca­tion de­sign for a bunch of years – tho I’m a bit rusty, not up on the lat­est fea­tures of Adobe In­De­sign CC, and shit, my Mac runs re­al­ly fuck­ing slow.

BUT I think if you’re go­ing to do some­thing like this, it’s got to be dif­fi­cult, no?

RADíO FLoMM’s on top of every­thing pro­duc­er is on top of every­thing for 423 this year.

And last week, he took an on air break from our last episode so he could fig­ure out how our BRITISH VOICE min­gles with Ar­ti­fi­cial In­tel­li­gence and the RSS feed of our very own der­Tung blog. MOR than a thou­sand posts to toss around, he’s ready for his time in the spot­light.

Be­cause he missed our LIVE show. Be­cause he’s BRITISH. And he also HATES Milk. We wish that weren’t true, but it is.

 

BILL MEAD
You kno how web­sites all look alike these days? And every­one codes the same way?

Well, Bill’s tak­ing a break from this. ON THE SIDE, he’s been work­ing with HTML and CSS to craft web el­e­ments as art – and pre­miered his ex­per­i­ments at our first 423 event in Stock­ton.

Thurs­day, his lat­est will be the vi­su­al back­bone of our site, with the abil­i­ty to up­load YOUR OWN con­tent to his in-mo­tion com­po­si­tions.

Bill’s also been craft­ing the over­all en­vi­ron­ment we’ll get to play in. All up for ONE DAY ONLY. (The self de­struct op­tion was his idea, of course)

As my dad used to say back in the 70s: “We don’t want the Rus­sians to find out about this.”

Since we are cel­e­brat­ing land­mark RUSS­IAN AVANT GARDE for 423 this year, his­to­ri­an and reg­u­lar RADíO FLoMM con­trib­u­tor PAUL ROUHAN a.k.a. Male­vich squaRED has aligned VKhUTEMAS + UN­O­VIS + RUSS­IAN CIN­E­MA + flomZINEm and every­thing will feel just like you’re set­ting up an ex­per­i­men­tal UTOPIA over 100 years ago. LIKE IT OR NOT we’re cel­e­brat­ing an­oth­er place, an­oth­er time with a mix of NÜ and OLD.
