(se­ri­ous­ly, if they had a sin­gle thing to be proud about they wouldn’t need such an ob­vi­ous and in­sis­tent moniker but what­ev­er) were at the state Capi­tol yes­ter­day puff­ing each other’s chests and swap­ping Lau­ra In­gra­ham fan­f­ic,

not 5 blocks away

Dis­ney on Ice was hap­pen­ing at Gold­en One and the contrast/compare couldn’t have been more ob­vi­ous to me,

for the world that the Proud Boys de­test so much is al­ready here:

Hun­dreds of fam­i­lies of every shade and an­ces­tral lin­eage out to­geth­er en­joy­ing a day in our city.

There were tiny princes and princess­es all decked out in what­ev­er cos­tume they iden­ti­fied with most.

Mid­dle east­ern­ers mixed with African Amer­i­cans mixed with Asians mixed with Lat­inx peo­ple and every­one seemed to be hav­ing the best time,

bliss­ful­ly un­aware that just a few blocks away the *real* fan­ta­sy cos­play was froth­ing it­self up against all of what the world now is.

And it’s not go­ing away and it’s not go­ing back to how it was.

“You will not re­place us”

Uh dude, not to make you feel worse but no­body’s try­ing to re­place you be­cause you of­fered noth­ing of val­ue in the first place.

There’s a rea­son these peo­ple align them­selves with “three per­centers” and it has fuck­all to do with the his­toric root of that term:

They know they are the scant mi­nor­i­ty and they would rather ex­ist as atavis­tic guer­ril­la ter­ror­ists bleat­ing about a world that is long gone and not com­ing back than ac­cept that the world has long since moved on and frankly doesn’t need them.
