While the “Proud Boys”
(seriously, if they had a single thing to be proud about they wouldn’t need such an obvious and insistent moniker but whatever) were at the state Capitol yesterday puffing each other’s chests and swapping Laura Ingraham fanfic,
not 5 blocks away
Disney on Ice was happening at Golden One and the contrast/compare couldn’t have been more obvious to me,
for the world that the Proud Boys detest so much is already here:
Hundreds of families of every shade and ancestral lineage out together enjoying a day in our city.
There were tiny princes and princesses all decked out in whatever costume they identified with most.
Middle easterners mixed with African Americans mixed with Asians mixed with Latinx people and everyone seemed to be having the best time,
blissfully unaware that just a few blocks away the *real* fantasy cosplay was frothing itself up against all of what the world now is.
And it’s not going away and it’s not going back to how it was.
“You will not replace us”
Uh dude, not to make you feel worse but nobody’s trying to replace you because you offered nothing of value in the first place.
There’s a reason these people align themselves with “three percenters” and it has fuckall to do with the historic root of that term:
They know they are the scant minority and they would rather exist as atavistic guerrilla terrorists bleating about a world that is long gone and not coming back than accept that the world has long since moved on and frankly doesn’t need them.
