I’m ex­cit­ed for the next phase. This was be­yond what I was hop­ing for when I first read the Politi­co ar­ti­cle back in 2014 say­ing he was think­ing about a Pres­i­den­tial bid to change the nar­ra­tive of the elec­tions and I wrote him a dumb let­ter ba­si­cal­ly beg­ging him to step into the ring.

I nev­er imag­ined he’d get this far, that I would con­nect with so many like­mind­ed peo­ple, or that the DNC would lis­ten to any of our con­cerns. The cheers he re­ceived when he stepped on stage tonight strength­ened my re­solve and gave my hope for the fu­ture of the move­ment.

I haven’t liked that some sup­port­ers have turned on him be­cause that was all very cult of per­son­al­i­ty es­pe­cial­ly since most of them only en­gaged be­cause of him.

What I’m ex­cit­ed about is peo­ple seem en­er­gized at the lo­cal lev­els, like it fi­nal­ly clicked that it’s not just about the Pres­i­den­cy – that who is run­ning our school board re­al­ly mat­ters. I am ex­cit­ed to see this en­er­gy turn into ac­tion on the grass­roots lev­el. I’m ex­cit­ed to see more peo­ple at demon­stra­tions, en­gag­ing in the work you do to build a sus­tain­able and strong Left-wing par­ty, and even just tak­ing their civic duty se­ri­ous­ly.
