America rewards people like Kyle Rittenhouse for being Kyle Rittenhouse.
It’s why I was bullied until I was a junior in high school.
It’s why three other women and I can all say the same thing to an older male exec and he’ll disagree, but if a man said it, he’d consider it.
It’s why the Central Park 5 were sent to prison.
It’s why the Equal Rights Amendment has yet to be passed.
It’s why Michael Reinoehl was shot and killed by 👮♂️ in Lacey, WA instead of being arrested and put on trial.
It’s why there are over 150,000 untested r a p e kits across the country.
It’s why Roe v. Wade hangs in the balance.
It’s why 60% of people who are still unvaccinated against Covid are ⚪️ people.
It’s why tens of thousands of asylum seeking migrant children are still languishing away in squalid conditions in concentration camps along our borders.
Remember: People *can* change, but most of them don’t.
America has always been like this.
Always. It doesn’t matter who is in charge.
You can and should be very disappointed, frustrated, upset, and furious today.
But you should not be surprised.
