I’m into genre fiction but I’m starving for the mundane too.
I want to read about how a roof thatcher fixes the village after a battle. Can they make straw fire proof?
–and–
It’d be great if, mid-narrative, the knight goes off on a tangent about how chainmail is itchy. How does he figure that out? Does he keep a dull blade for grooming and scratching?
I’m looking for something like Curb Your Enthusiasm crossed with The Book of Three, delivered in a dry wit that shames the reader for not knowing the obvious intertextual references.
No dragons, just build up and aftermath peppered with a how-to on cobbling.
