In the 1970s, psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi studied why people feel happiest when fully absorbed in what they’re doing.
He called it the FLOW STATE. Where focus and joy meet.
People from rock climbers and painters, even chess players, all described the same thing: Joy didn’t come from the reward or end result but from the process itself.
For me it’s large scale organizing, disruption through art, visioning, writing, performing, learning a new technology, cooking, design, photography, video, music production.
What is that thing that helps you eliminate the noise, focus hard, and let yourself disappear into the moment?

ChaCha and Deaja are a couple of the creators I love to collaborate and build ideas with because they’re some of the artists I respect most in the city.
I’m really glad Sacramento is waking up to the art of burlesque and the gems that we have in ChaCha Burnadette, Deaja GirlonFire, and The Darling Clementines.
You all have truly been doing the work using your art to create beautiful, safe community spaces filled with joy, acceptance, empowerment, and self love.
All while providing one of the most entertaining, best date nights in the city.
These flowers are a great start, but y’all deserve a rose garden for what you’ve given to the city. 🌹🌹🌹
