A colleague of mine once said:
“Dropping out of art school is kind of like graduating from it …”
While I would never encourage anyone to drop out of school I do understand their point.
There is a dogmatic structure in the commercial world that seems antithetical to exploration of craftsmanship.
I have avoided this structure by becoming a Leivencustler. It’s German for an artist who uses lifes as a medium.
Don’t worry about commercial appeal. Chase mastery with the energy that society usually attributes to youth. Paint and play laser tag. Knit and take karaté.
Place a premium on friends, community, & artistic growth.
I would like to offer my continued support and admiration for all my colleagues and fellow flommists. You have all educated me far more than any institution. Please continue inviting me to your screenings, etsy stores, and work spaces. I will always be present. I will always partake.
Mehallo likes to show that one ^ on the first day of class.
