How could ANY­ONE have pre­vent­ed ter­ri­fied Afghans from scal­ing the walls of the air­port in Kab­ul and cling­ing to mil­i­tary planes amid a fran­tic, dead­ly evac­u­a­tion ef­fort while Tal­iban fight­ers that hate us sweep­ing back into pow­er as the US pulls out, or ca­su­al­ties at the hands of sui­cide bombers dur­ing a high-risk scram­ble to screen those seek­ing to flee the Tal­iban’s bru­tal rule?

How?

Can some­one tell me what could POS­SI­BLY have been done to make a qui­et peace­ful with­draw­al?

Come on, all you arm chair gen­er­als – how the hell would you have done it?

How would you have pulled over 117,000 peo­ple out of Afghanistan in 2 wks? 7800/day 325/hr?

That would be 3‑C47s land­ing, re-fu­el­ing, load­ing 100+ pas­sen­gers, tax­ing to the run­way and tak­ing off EVERY 20 min­utes for 24 hr straight for 2 weeks??!!!

So just shut the fuck up.
