We need a radically left President. Period.
We need that person to push against the rising fascism in America. To hedge the coming economic crisis. To literally SAVE THE PLANET FROM DEATH.
And we need to spend 2019 and 2020 getting centrists on the same page. We cannot slow and steady our way out of this mess we’re in, we literally don’t have enough time.
I found him via @theLLAG.
Andrew Yang’s most fascinating policy imo is universal income. Don’t even start with how to afford this; we spend trillions on war and we leave as much on the table refusing to tax the wealthiest who are destroying the planet. Any arguments beyond that against it are about worthiness … is mass murder more worthy?
Allowing people to have their needs met regardless of ability to ‘contribute to society’ would dramatically cut domestic violence, crime, homelessness, the impacts of institutional ‑isms, the power that corporations have over our lives and politics, that’s just what’s at the top of my head. I also have this feeling it could slow down the news/media cycle, allowing for a less reactionary culture in general.
It’s also important that our radically left president have a radically left government to support them, otherwise they’re just a talking head.
It’s very important we spend 2019 and 2020 finding those candidates and supporting them. Ocasio-Cortez pulled her campaign together incredibly quick, but why take chances?
