“A profoundly humanist film, mourning the tragedies that litter Hollywood histories. But it’s also a worshipful film, one that gladly buys into the dream, the spell, the mystery of it all. That might read as simultaneously naive and cynical – but it’s a myth we know we’ve bought into, too, if we’ve sat ourselves down to watch a three-hour movie about half-remembered figures from 100 years ago.”

“You should see it on the biggest screen, but fair warning to folks: It out adults most ‘for adults’ movies.”

“The swimming pool scene is wat my class lectures are like. Same content – including the swimming pool.”

I’ve heard this film is bananas and that was worth a trip to the cinema alone for me. Theater 4 at DOCO is my very own private screening room.
Babylon (2022) is swinging for fences that aren’t even in the same ballpark and it’s such a dazzling, ambitious, dizzying ride that you don’t even mind that they don’t land.
Maybe you’ll love it (I did),
maybe you’ll hate it (some do),
but you’ve never seen anything like it.
And that’s something on its own.
Just find the biggest screen you can and sit in the second row and just let the madness wash over you.
