What’s really telling to me whenever someone commits suicide,
especially someone famous,
the response always seems to be
“… but they were so successful”
“… but they had a great family”
“… but they were so beautiful.”
This shows that people still consider depression,
suicidal ideations,
and other mental illnesses while we are here,
a response to the circumstances of life, rather than an actual illness.
Mental illness can be triggered by bad life events, yes,
but also you could have the literal greatest life on the entire planet,
but that does matter if your brain has an imbalance of neurotransmitters because of genetics,
medical conditions, trauma,
and the long list of other things that are contributing factors to the illness
we are only beginning to really understand in the medical community.
