A year ago today I asked the cast of Christopher Guest’s Waiting for Guffman a question and *blew everyone’s fucking minds*
This was at the Waiting for Guffman 20th anniversary screening for SF Sketchfest.
I said that since their mockumentary characters often come from a place of affection rather than just straight up making fun, how hard is it to find that balance where you create a character that is comical but sympathetic – and do you ever find yourselves having to pull each other back from crossing too far over the line into lampooning?
They took it and ran with it.
You could tell that it was a question they were happy to get. I think the answer was like 15 minutes.
Pictured: Christopher Guest, Kevin Pollack (moderating), Fred Willard, Bob Balaban and Parker Posey.
Parker answered her part directly to me with eye contact and my heart did explode.
