What has flommist flimmaker Rose Mendonca been up to?
Well, her neo noir opus, Laundromat (2015), was recently added to the Newark International Film Festival, which will be held 9–11 September 2016.
Late last year, an avant garde, vintage reDUB of Laundromat compiled by Flomm founder Steve Mehallo was screened at septt expérimento in Sacramento, CA:
The Flomm reDUB trades in Mendonca’s contemporary Hitchcockian soundscape for a 1930s dramatic talkie version using vintage studio music and retro sound editing techniques – with a splash of Fantasia-like stereo.

Mendonca’s film feels like a love letter to classic television and film, “I was inspired by classic noir such as Laura (1944), Notorious (1946) – and classic tv shows I used to watch when I was growing up, such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Twilight Zone.”
Cinephiles and flommists alike: Please donate and support Rose’s gofundme campaign to pay for festival travel expenses and a visit to her 90 year-old grandmother.
