Never once did I go to Goldfield.
For similar reasons why it took so long to go to BevMo, the erasure of former Sacramento institutions was too sore and disappointing.
Before it was BevMo, it was The Beat! where I both worked and collected many records and memories.

the beat! which is now fucking bevmo
Before it was Goldfield it was Hamburger Patties and before that Hamburger Mary’s and they would have Tranny Bingo night (it is what they called it, part of the Hamburger Mary’s institution – Hamburger Mary’s being a Queer chain) and the best seasoned fries that left your mouth a desert.
It had forrest carvings for no reason and giant booths and burgers as wide as my hand. I would pop in on my lunch break from The Beat and get a veggie burger that would last me two days.
So yeah, good riddance to Goldfields who are the antithesis of the positive queer home that used to live in that location.
I hope Lavender Heights reclaims this soil.
