The amount of ‘one off’ silly ideas I and my friends have leaned into to build community is so awesome.
We used to do brunch at my house morning after open mics.
We used to do a meeting each month where any and all kinds of artists would trade free services in exchange for things they wanted to learn from folks who had life experience?*
We used to host a book club?
I used to run a monthly musicians potluck and jam so the Sacramento artists could be friends (because we worked so much at events we never actually got to be loving, close and engaged in a real way).
We had a dance party at the end of open mics so we’d have a way to be silly and bond before folks left.
There’s always like, 60% of my body that hurts in physical and emotional ways all the time. Always has. Probably always will.
But that 40%, man. I’m proud of that 😭. I’m the Little Introvert That Could 🚂
PS I THINK YOU CAN DO IT TOO 🧡

* We picked a spot at a restaurant that would let us meet up in a big space upstairs and we’d try to keep tabs on who could do what, and try to bring paper with our name/numbers/things we could do on it, put it in our phones, or added each other on social media. Hella helpful.
