I am having a momentary thrill thinking, not only of the mighty, inspiring, powerful and delightful art that will be made as a result of this wrinkle in time, but I truly believe – for better or worse, (as surely both are soon to come) – this radical, global condition of ours is undoubtedly the incubator for a BRAND NEW art form or two – perhaps even a brand new economic model.
I bet it will NOT be what we have imagined before, in that different past, but something totally else.
Because, as the great Yogi Berra once said, “The future [most definitely] ain’t what it used to be!”
Right.
And if money is what we want more than anything, is there not a ton of it to be made in being ahead of the curve in creating a visionary, global, sustainable future?
I have never understood why we are so wedded to the economic model of the past, to the finite resources of the past, to even the worker exploitation model of the past.
We can’t continue to degrade the environment we depend on. There are too damn many of us now.
I personally think that to dream of ‘getting back to normal’ must be admitted to being … a dream.
We are in a new space now. We are finally experiencing our global economy and interconnectedness laid bare.
I don’t know much about global finances but it seems to me that business has long since understood that the nation-state model is functionally obsolete.
Wars and commerce happen on a more meta, global level. Like viruses, for example.
I sure don’t have answers, so please don’t get all up in my grill, as they say. But maybe different questions will help.
