A couple years ago, I cut a hole in the fence of all my fears and ran for it.
What I didn’t know or expect was that my original makings would use the same opening to pour back through and make the shape of me solid again. I returned to myself—but only because I sweated through welcoming it, no matter the doubt, uncertainty, and the would-be ease of going back to comfortable, familiar, thwarting territory.
And in that first year, there were three funerals, too. Chris in a motorcycle accident, Katharina in thunderclap of cancer that left a boyfriend and baby behind, and Cibi, the last of my grandparental figures.
These three letterpress pieces were the outpouring that ushered me along, but they’re not just about me. They’re about you, too. They are about life and death force energies, and about us, as vessels. We can go under, bail, or give up—or decide to let everything we experience be the muse of transformation.
