Plen­ty of my out-of-my-head draw­ings are noth­ing – stiff or emp­ty, in­com­plete.

But then oth­ers form on the page com­plete with per­son­al­i­ties and his­to­ries,
and I can’t pre­dict or plan who comes –

when I’m try­ing hard it doesn’t work,
which can make me feel like a fraud –

but when it hap­pens, it feels like chan­nel­ing, like deep zone con­nec­tion,

and who­ev­er shows up,

they’re al­ways car­ry­ing some­thing I un­der­stand and feel, too … we don’t call it ‘draw­ing’ for noth­ing.
