Idea for a Portlandia sketch (which would play out over the length of the entire episode):
Carrie and Fred decide the environmentally responsible thing to do is to move into a tiny house off the grid and become self-sustaining in order to reduce their level of consumption and their carbon footprint.
After doing this, they set about building a chicken coop and getting some chickens as the first step toward becoming self-sustaining.
As the episode goes on, their chicken coop becomes bigger and more spacious and more elaborate in order to maximize the comfort of their chickens.
Eventually they move into the coop (which is bigger than most houses at this point) and fill it with items ‘for the chickens’ that will allow them to provide the best care and attention.
After installing plumbing, electricity, carpet, a satellite dish, and central heat and cooling, they determine that such an unnatural environment for the chickens doesn’t really lend to the organic, free-range approach they were going for, so they relocate the chickens into the tiny house, which is the size of a coop compared to the almost-mansion (originally built for the chickens) that they now occupy.
