And then I ran off and joined the circus.

Where I found like-minded individuals who love to inspire people. Who have a purpose and goals. Like FLOMM has become, but different.

SacCirque is a collective of Sacramento-based performing artists – but is much more than that. We produce large scale show and events but also, we encourage the creative voice of each of our members. And we’re connected to the Sacramento community through outreach programs where we can bring the circus arts to underprivileged youth in the area.

This is my art.

And I love the many different ways the concept of circus is interpreted. Including Chinese Opera, the travelling circus, et cetera.

Circus’ as entertainment has been around since Ancient Rome – first as a building, similar to Greece’s hippodromes – a venue for entertainment, which grew over the years into the many forms that exist today.

Culturally, old secrets are passed on through families and friends, with performers trained from childhood – there are so many different ways to circus.

FLOMM’s own interest in creating a contemporary version of 1920s Kabarett (with comedy, burlesque, and circus of course) as art form is just one aspect of all this (details to come soon).

Today, circus has had an amazing revival with the popularity of Cirque du Soleil, and neo-burlesque is tied to Dita Von Teese and The Pussycat Dolls enjoying mainstream success.

Circus is part of our world and our culture.

And here’s my performance from last week’s SacCirque HAPPY F@#%ING VALENTINES show at BADLANDS in Sacramento, California:
