Favourite Prince mem­o­ry:

I was at a sleep­over at when I was younger and I woke up in the mid­dle of the night to hear my friend’s broth­er whis­per-singing

Di­a­monds and Pearls.

So I got out of bed and snuck up on him and star­tled him by belt­ing the cho­rus.

We end­ed stay­ing up all night lis­ten­ing to the al­bum to­geth­er over and over again.

From that point on when­ev­er we’d see each oth­er, we’d hum it as a se­cret in­side joke be­cause we felt su­per cool that we stayed up all night to­geth­er and no one was the wis­er. I’ve nev­er ac­tu­al­ly told any­one this sto­ry un­til now.

Di­a­monds and Pearls

was the first al­bum I ever bond­ed with some­one over and the first time I loved some­thing so much that I broke the rules to en­joy it.

I’m go­ing to miss Prince ter­ri­bly but I’m grate­ful for how im­por­tant he was to my youth. RIP Friend.
