“Time is an illusion, a construct made out of human memory. There’s no such thing as the past, the present, or the future. It’s all happening now.”
—Blake Crouch
“A lot of us grow up being fed this idea of time as absolute … The management of what counts as correct time and what time it is in any given place is deeply related to authority … Capitalism sucks, and I think a lot of people’s relationship to why time is not cool, is structured by the resource pressures that we feel.”
—Chanda Prescod-Weinstein
“The Uniform Time Act, which was passed in 1966, says that states can enact permanent standard time but not permanent daylight saving time … California voters also authorized a resolution in 2018, but lawmakers haven’t taken any action on the legislation so we’re not counting it here.”
—Emily Olson
Starting this weekend I am going to be blaming a lot of things on the time change.
I never could get used to hours bouncing by when traveling around the globe, and the extra hour we get in the fall still messes with my senses.
I am right here proposing that we not only just REFUSE to FALL BACK this fall as usual …
we should ALSO move our clocks FORWARD ONE HOUR in a fit of protest and outright anarchy.
The rest of the functioning world seems to have finally caught up to those of us who have been werking from home for many years – as a freelance designer this has been my construct; a construct that started in elementary school with the concept of “homework” itself —
So I asks: Do we really need to sync to established clocks and time zones at this point anymor??
I can have a conversation with an artist (or client) in New York without too many adjustments for any of us.

This spring I will again be teaching TWO TOTALLY ONLINE courses through American River College in Sacramento where the only real thing students will have to do is 1) watch my videos at their leisure and 2) turn in work (also) at their leisure within a weekly time frame. Weekly, not hourly.
Art New Media 305 History of Graphic Design and Art New Media 324 Digital Design are the courses. The first one tends to fill fast, the second is an Adobe Illustrator-powered variation of the bauhaus seminar I’ve taught at a few different schools. (Both are my best/favourite/well-reviewed classes, btw)
It’s the least I could do to help with the hours of darkness that will be upon us, thanks to our elected elite.
