“It caused a loud bang, there was a subsequent panic, thinking it was possible gunfire given the nature of what’s been happening across the nation.”

What a rough fucking night.
I am not naturally a patient person and I know this about myself so I really, really try to work on it, but I’m also aware of other people around me and I try to be conscious of their time and other needs and not act like I’m the only one being served. So many people don’t.
They just don’t care about anyone but themselves and it has drained me.
Las Vegas is full of these types: Inconsiderate people with clueless looks on their faces whose sole purpose on this earth seems to be making everything as difficult as possible for servers and other people who have their shit together and are just trying to be efficient, oh my god.
And just so we are clear I am not talking about any of the people we traveled with, they were all wonderful. I’m referring to the entitled assholes who think they’re royalty and the only people on earth and they can do whatever they want because they have money.
When I’m having fun and I know it’s just for a few days, I can manage. After what happened Saturday night, I’m so spent.
Just before 10 p.m., we’d gotten out of a cab at New York New York and were headed to the Swatch store.
A little while later, we were at the MGM Grand and everything became super fucked up super fast so I’m a little blurry on the details, but suddenly crowds of people were running past us and then it was weirdly quiet.
I remember seeing two performers with yellow and black feathered head dresses who were just flying down the stairs in heels, kind of cowering as they ran.
We realized this was very bad so we turned around and followed the crowd as fast as we could.
At least twice we encountered a large group of cops with huge guns and bulletproof vests so we went the opposite direction they were going.
We found ourselves stuck in the MGM, which is just a huge clusterfuck of a maze. Eventually, we found a staff room behind where a poker tournament was taking place.
The tables were all empty because people had stood up and just left everything. We ran into the staff room and they let us. It was a locking door and one of the staff was standing there looking around the corner to see if they’d need to shut it.
What was a panic about a potential shooter was a “loud bang” caused by some asshole breaking a window.
After it was clear and safe to go, it took us almost two fucking hours to make our way back to the Bellagio.
We missed our Neon Museum tour. Aaron and I went back to our room and I took a shower and just cried.
Second time in my life I’ve been in a situation like this one. Laying in bed, all I could think about was what school children must go through when they experience that *but* it’s also real.
Miserable end to this vacation. I just wanted to be home with my kitty cat.
This country is so fucked up and broken.
