I’m just old enough now
To sometimes experience a
space when I rediscover
people I’ve loved
I find them again
In sometimes silly spaces
In views of Instagram stories
or a torn piece of paper
with their letters
And slam
They are still there
Buried under the newer,
now irl loves
And the samesame world of
feelings emerges, sitting
round that person
Like kicking up a gang of leaves
and then sneezing it up
for a few days
I loved you then
And the shape it took was
so particular
A brash accumulation of
begone me and bygone you
It was a mental pony ride
with the submission of
any ponies
back massages and bad songs
a mutual cactus obsession
accidental stay overs
and there I’ll feel ‘We’re blessed’
Without insincerity or
stomach acid in my mouth
Because the love went on
Our capacities never
diminished
I think I’m right and know
I’m right
You’re loving this one
Better but with the big
samehow
