My friend, LA based artist @stimeyluv1 once stated:
“[artists] are all about community until one of us ‘makes it’ before we do. I think it comes from that self-doubt we all carry. But, that said, it’s also important to surround yourself with people who genuinely approach friendship. Not because of the association of knowing you as an artist, but because they genuinely like you.”
I’ve made real friends through our events. And I’ve been brutally honest, sometimes to my detriment, on Der Tung.
Your colleagues shouldn’t drain you or resent your success and you shouldn’t be judged for bearing your soul.
The uninitiated may misread the neurosis that powers our endeavors as self-indulgence.
But it’s exposure therapy.
And FLOMM is a support group.
SATURDAY we’ll be out doing what we enjoy. What we love.
We’ll make it possible for you to MAKE ART like never before, art with paints and silkscreening (RED shirts where no one gets killed), and you’ll have our live feed from PARIS.
And you don’t even have to learn the language. But learning language is cool.
We’re going to hydrodip things.
Bring some old clothing ’cause we can’t predict the results. Or use our RED shirts. It’s marbling done differently, quick and easy. A little bit like this:
Everything can be cool in the right light … in this case, RED …
As long as we keep the art in front of us.
423 RED happens saturday 9 JUNE 2018
