‘the power of thinking positive’

I’m re­al­ly sick of be­ing told how im­por­tant it is for me to call sen­a­tors in oth­er states who don’t give a fuck about half of their own con­stituents, let alone some ran­dom lib­er­al no­body all the way across the coun­try.

This is just me, but I think a huge hur­dle we have to get over is ac­cept­ing that some peo­ple re­al­ly are just ir­re­deemable pieces of shit who suck. You’re not go­ing to ap­peal to their hu­man­i­ty be­cause they have no hu­man­i­ty.

An en­tire gen­er­a­tion of kids raised on Dis­ney movies and PSAs and and “the pow­er of think­ing pos­i­tive” want to be­lieve that no mat­ter what, deep down in­side, every­one is a good per­son and you just have to reach that part of them and you’ll get them to change. Blah blah pow­er of love and all that non­sense.

Some­times it’s just not there. You’re look­ing for some­thing that doesn’t ex­ist.

Bet­ter to turn your at­ten­tion to­ward some­thing more con­struc­tive than hold­ing out hope that peo­ple whose in­ter­ests lie in pre­serv­ing their priv­i­lege and wealth over your ba­sic rights and lib­er­ties will make any move that will cause them the tini­est sliv­er of their pie, what­so­ev­er.
