I’m really sick of being told how important it is for me to call senators in other states who don’t give a fuck about half of their own constituents, let alone some random liberal nobody all the way across the country.
This is just me, but I think a huge hurdle we have to get over is accepting that some people really are just irredeemable pieces of shit who suck. You’re not going to appeal to their humanity because they have no humanity.
An entire generation of kids raised on Disney movies and PSAs and and “the power of thinking positive” want to believe that no matter what, deep down inside, everyone is a good person and you just have to reach that part of them and you’ll get them to change. Blah blah power of love and all that nonsense.
Sometimes it’s just not there. You’re looking for something that doesn’t exist.
Better to turn your attention toward something more constructive than holding out hope that people whose interests lie in preserving their privilege and wealth over your basic rights and liberties will make any move that will cause them the tiniest sliver of their pie, whatsoever.
