Join artist and au­thor-il­lus­tra­tor Ruby Roth and im­prove your cur­rent art skills across the board by learn­ing how to draw one of L.A.’s best live fig­ure mod­els. In a no-pres­sure at­mos­phere, you’ll pick up tools and tech­niques to start cap­tur­ing ges­tures and a bet­ter un­der­stand­ing of form, no mat­ter your sub­ject. All lev­els wel­come, whether you’re an ab­solute be­gin­ner or fig­ure-draw­ing reg­u­lar.

Let me ex­plain:

As a be­gin­ner, my lines were sketchy and heavy, not con­fi­dent or un­der­stood.

I was try­ing to fig­ure out the live fig­ure with no real sys­tem in place to tack­le it.
 

And I was scared to tack­le hands and feet!

But in 2003, I start­ed study­ing dif­fer­ent­ly …
 

I learned tools to learn how to see.

With­in a cou­ple years, I was a dif­fer­ent artist.
 

I had gained con­fi­dence, and a bet­ter un­der­stand­ing of form.

My lines be­came sim­pler, be­cause I could see the fig­ure more clear­ly.
 

Hands too.

(I was even us­ing both hands to draw)
 

Re­gard­less of the chal­lenge, draw­ing from life be­came eas­i­er to tack­le, and more med­i­ta­tive.
