loss of bravery

My in­ter­net has been down for two days so I watched Sav­ing Pri­vate Ryan (1998) again.

All I could think about was the men, women, and chil­dren who lost their lives fight­ing against the white na­tion­al­ist men­tal­i­ty that has again raised its ugly head in our own na­tion.

Our own po­lice, and cit­i­zens stand around and watch it go on just as Ger­many did. We tol­er­ate it and in Wash­ing­ton, some ac­tu­al­ly en­cour­age it. I just don’t un­der­stand, I don’t un­der­stand how peo­ple can watch them march down our streets and do noth­ing, say noth­ing, feel noth­ing.

I think about the An­tifa who wear masks and uni­forms to keep from be­ing iden­ti­fied while con­fronting them. Yes their tac­tics are not the best, but at least they are do­ing some­thing.

When will the rest of us stand up, show up, and put down these nazis, racists, and ho­mo­phobes?

When will WE take to the streets as par­ents, teach­ers, fire­men, con­struc­tion work­ers, day care providers, teens and put a stop to this dis­ease plagu­ing our na­tion?

The past two years have been a de­spi­ca­ble time in our na­tion’s his­to­ry filled with ab­solute­ly de­plorable acts of ha­tred against mi­nori­ties, im­mi­grants, women, and even chil­dren.

I don’t know about the rest of the na­tion, but I was raised bet­ter, taught bet­ter, and de­sire to BE bet­ter.
