But it also dates back …
when I was about 6 or 7,
at the be­gin­ning of what
would be a 13-year,
20+ hour a day bid in a
back brace for Sco­l­io­sis,
I had the thought,

“I am not my body”

—in hind­sight my first
ex­pe­ri­ence of the ob­serv­er
mind and the way we can
man­age the dif­fer­ent
di­men­sions of our self.

That knowl­edge of the
dif­fer­ence be­tween
con­scious­ness and
phys­i­cal­i­ty has since
been a teacher, and this
im­age is also a re­minder.
